A moment to honor your baby by name
Your baby was here. However brief their time with you, your child was real, deeply loved, and worthy of being remembered. Grief that the world rarely sees is still grief — and here, it is welcomed and held gently.
To honor the life of your child, we will hold a brief service concluding with a butterfly release. These are always free of charge—even when part of a conference, but registration is required so we can properly honor your baby by name. Watch our social media for announcements about our next service.
There is nothing you need to prove and no timeline you must meet. Whether your loss was last month or many years ago, whether you were weeks along or held your baby in your arms, you are welcome to come and to be surrounded by others who understand. We simply want to stand beside you, speak your child's name aloud, and remember them together.
We believe the ache you carry is not the end of your story. Even here, in the tender middle of sorrow, hope has a way of taking wing.
Why a butterfly?
A butterfly begins hidden away, wrapped in a season that looks, from the outside, like an ending. Yet within that stillness a quiet, unseen transformation is taking place. What emerges is not what went in — it rises on new wings, carried by the very air that once held it to the ground.
For grieving families, the butterfly has become a tender picture of transformation, of hope that outlasts sorrow, and of resurrection life. It reminds us that love is not undone by loss, and that our children are held safe in the hands of the One who made them.
It is a fitting emblem for a ministry named Sarah's Laughter. Sarah laughed at the impossible promise of a child — and that impossible hope came true. Releasing a butterfly into the open sky is our way of entrusting our longing, and our little ones, to a God who still keeps impossible promises.
What to expect
A gentle, unhurried gathering — there is nothing you need to prepare or perform. Come as you are, and let us carry the details.
Reach out & register your baby's name
Contact us to let us know you'd like to attend and to share the name (or names) of the baby you're honoring, so we can speak it aloud with care. Registration is always free.
Gather with others who understand
You'll be surrounded by families who know this particular sorrow — a quiet, compassionate company where your grief is welcomed and your baby is remembered without explanation.
A brief service ending in a live butterfly release
We share a short time of remembrance and comfort, then release living butterflies together into the open air — a tender act of hope, honoring each precious life by name.
Butterfly Bags
Some of the hardest moments come after the appointment, after the hospital, after everyone else has gone quiet — when your arms are empty and you don't know what to do next. Butterfly Bags exist for exactly those moments.
A gentle bundle of comfort for grieving hearts
Sarah's Laughter supplies Butterfly Bags — thoughtfully gathered support materials for those grieving the loss of a baby. They are made for parents walking through miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant loss, and for the family members and friends who love them and long to help. Each bag is a tangible reminder that your baby mattered and that you are not carrying this alone. To request a Butterfly Bag for yourself or for someone you love, please reach out to us — a caring person will respond gently and personally.
You are not alone in this grief
The loss of a baby can feel unbearably lonely — as though the world expects you to move on while your heart is still holding your child. Please hear this: you don't have to do this alone, and you don't have to do it all today.
When you're ready, there are places here where your story is understood. Our faith-based loss support groups bring you into the company of others who have walked this same tender road — no explanations required, no grief too small or too old to bring.
- Find companionship and prayer in a loss support group, in person or online.
- Listen to honest, comforting conversations on the podcast — a gentle voice for the days you feel most alone.
- Let a global prayer team lift you up when words won't come — submit a prayer request.
We care about your heart. We care about your hurt. We're honored to join you on your journey — for as long as the road is long.
Let us honor your baby by name.
There is no cost, and no wrong time to reach out. Register for our next memorial and butterfly release, or ask us to lift your family in prayer — whichever your heart needs first.
